How can I put students at ease before exams?
If you teach a course that is known to be difficult. How can you put your students more at ease before the exam?

I teach statistics to social science students, so it is something a lot of students worry about. What I usually say is that our passing rate is comparable to other courses. Therefore, if you study diligently, you have a good chance of passing.
Furthermore, I’ve met a lot of students who failed who admit that they only started putting effort in it in the 5th week of the course. Starting on time really helps.
