TAUU-meeting: Participation Grades
On 1 May Assistant Professor Christel Lutz from University College Utrecht, Professor Michael Burke from University College Roosevelt and Assistant Professor Brianne McGonigle Leyh from Utrecht University’s Netherlands Institute of Human Rights jointly organized a TAUU workshop entitled ‘Participation Grades’.
The workshop was very well attended and strong opinions on both sides of the debate were voiced. After starting off with a discussion on whether or not the participants felt comfortable with grading participation and the pros and cons of their decision, the organizers introduced an example rubric that could serve as a starting point for those interested in grading participation. The participants then worked in small groups and were encouraged to tailor the rubric for their own purposes.
It was an interactive workshop where participants walked away with concrete ideas on how to best tackle this hotly debated topic!
