Workshop Student Empowerment: the role of the teacher in facilitating that students own their learning
This session has taken place before during the Teaching and Learning Inspiration Days on 2 February 2024, due to popularity it will be repeated. The working language of the session is English.
How to empower students to take learning into their own hands? It’s the idea of creating an environment where students want to learn rather than have to learn. But if we want students to be creative, self-directed learners we need to go beyond student engagement and into empowerment. This is the core idea of switching from teacher centered to student centered. Of course, this asks a change, time investment and another role of the teacher. In this interactive session, we will dive into the concept of student empowerment, give a student perspective on this, and together come up with useful tools for teachers in the implementation process.
This session will be given by members of the council Adrien Melquiond and Marij Swinkels and project leader T@UU Femke van de Glind.
