TAUU reading group – Learning and Teaching in Higher Education
We would like to invite you to a reading group on learning, teaching, and higher education. The purpose of this reading group is to share thoughts, experiences, and inspiration in an open setting, on the basis of a joint reading. The group is open to interested teachers connected to the UU and beyond. What we are proposing is meeting with a mixed group teachers from different fields, ages, and interest, to share thoughts on what binds us: our teaching.
After a first inspiring meeting in April, we want to invite you to continue the conversation by discussing Parker J. Palmer’s ‘The Courage to Teach’. Rather than focusing on techniques and methods for teaching, this book puts the identity, strength as well as vulnerabilities of the teacher. These, Parker argues, are central for answering the question: ‘what makes for good teaching?’
The meeting will take place at Friday 4 July, 15:00-17:00, at the Faculty Club of the UU, Achter de Dom 7.
The book can be ordered through bol.com
For those who are interested in participating but are unable to acquire the book, please contact us.
Sincerely,
Gerard van der Ree, University College Utrecht (G.vanderree@uu.nl)
