It takes 2 2 tango: Blog 1

[for English, please scroll down]

In just six weeks the annual Education Fair starts. Since this fall, a committee of lecturers and support staff is organizing this annual parade aimed at UU teaching personnel. As a chair of this committee I can now already conclude that all of us are having a lot of fun doing that. The theme of this Education Fair, internationalization, was easy to find: it is hot & hip. A title was more difficult but we ended up with It takes two to tango. This reflects the fact that we do need each other to make this innovation a success. Of course we could have chosen for English as the parade language. However, we thought that we would then  lose the Dutch speaking teaching staff that has just been confronted with the first consequences of internationalization. Therefore we chose a mixture: some workshops are in English, others are in Dutch. Also, the committee came to the conclusion that not everyone might be completely in favor of internationalization. Therefore we also wanted to hear the voices of rebels and potential saboteurs. Just to hear what they have to say and what those in favor could learn from that. We hope this Education Fair will be one of dialogue and debate. Whether we succeeded in that, will become clear on March 16th. Want to know more? Click here. From now on, Kirsten Buist and I will write a weekly blog about the preparations of the Education Fair. Follow us!
