Hopelijk zien we jullie allemaal donderdag! Sibe en Kirsten.

Tomorrow is the big day: the Onderwijsparade (Education Fair) 2017! It will be a tight fit for all our participants because the final score is a staggering 404 applications (47% support staff, 41% lecturers/researchers and 12% students). In the figure below you can see which divisions the participants are from. It’s not a contest, of course, but we (Sibe and Kirsten) are proud of the participation rate of our own faculty. The most important conclusion is that diversity within our participant group is very high, allowing us to learn a lot from each other about internationalization.

Because it will be quite busy, we think it is important that you show up in time to register and to choose a workshop. From 12.00hrs you are welcome to join us at a walk-in lunch in the Senate hall, followed by Sally Brown’s keynote lecture at 13.00hrs in the Aula. Due to the expected high attendance, we have arranged for a video link with the Belle van Zuylen hall so everybody can enjoy this ke
ynote lecture. After that, the usual parallel sessions will take place, with a total of 20 workshops to choose from! All these (tango)workshops are worth a visit of course, but we would like to highlig
ht one workshop that is provided by a team of colleagues that are visiting from the University of Helsinki. In their workshop, they will discuss a tool that is used at their university to improve teaching and learning. During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to get to know this system of quality improvement in education.

Each workshop will result in a tool that participants can use in their work, for example tips & tricks, best practices and important statements. These will be provided during the Education fair, but for our colleagues and students that are not able to join us they will also be made available afterwards. The goal is that you will be able to use the knowledge you gained in your own work!

Besides the workshops, there is also a Paradecafé and Knowledge market, where colleagues from Career Services, Teaching Academy UU, Educate-IT, Lifelong Learning, Center for Educations and Learning (COLUU) and Skills Lab can inform you of their activities. If you have specific questions for them, you can ask them at the Information market. Coincidentally, in the evening you will get another chance to immerse yourself in tango.  The Faculty Club is organizing a Diner Chantant with Kees Scholten, who translates the tango into Dutch, accompanied by pianist Margreet Markerink. See faculty club web site. This evening is accessible for members of the Faculty Club, which is available for all UU emplyees and alumni. If you want to apply, you can do that here.

During the Education fair, everybody is encouraged to tweet interesting news, using the hashtag #owp2017 @uniutrecht.

You can check out the full program of the Education fair here.

The organizing committee immensely enjoyed preparing the Education fair and is really looking forward to tomorrow. Hopefully we will all see you on Thursday! Kirsten and Sibe.
